- Adventures in Intimacy - A Workshop for Couples - A Special Event Hosted by Coach U.. All you need is love... right? So why do we flee? Why do we turn cold when our partner goes steamy? Why do we give our partner the brush-off just when they want to get playful? Why is there a heartbreaker for every broken heart and a thundering hailstorm pounding the shell of every cowering tortoise?

If you are wondering why your relationship isn't working out as you thought it should, why you aren't behaving as you thought you would or why your partner is not doing what you thought he/she could do, then this 3-day imago relationship workshop may be one of the greatest surprises of your life.

In three amazingly energetic days you will learn to understand your relationship in deeper ways than you thought possible, take control of your life without having to hold your breath in, learn to communicate with your partner in such a way that you will be sure he/she really listened and understood you, not just heard the words. You will acquire the skill to love and be loved just right, not too tight and not too slight, but just exactly right, and you will learn that old wounds, hurts and pains do not have to be put up with... they can just be healed.

The workshop is organized to allow you to work alone with your partner. Some people volunteer to do demonstrations, some don't, and it's up to you. Everything that happens in the workshop will be your doing. It is you who will learn to know your partner to an unprecedented depth, you who will acquire wonderfully effective communication skills, you who will write and introspect about yourself, and you who will apply the deep theoretical insights you receive to your own life.

So it really doesn't matter if your marriage is already a good one and you just want to make it great, or your marriage is a disaster on the brink of utter catastrophe and you are clutching at straws. It doesn't matter if you are just starting out on a relationship for the first time, or starting out again and are afraid of repeating old mistakes. It doesn't matter if your marriage has gone sour or just become boring and cold, if you are considering marriage or contemplating divorce, if you fear the future or abhor the past... or both. Even if you are just a therapist taking the first step on the IRT journey... whatever your situation, the workshop can provide you and your partner with the skills you need to cooperate rather than blame, freely express emotions, enjoy new passion and pleasure with your spouse, heal the old wounds, develop dormant powers, and have so much fun that your old romantic notions of marriage (of which you may have been disillusioned in the interim) may pale in comparison.

Location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado
How to get there: You can fly to Denver, rent a car and drive 2.5 hours to Steamboat or you can fly into Hayden, CO from Denver which is 20 miles west of town and take the taxi.
Rooms: We will arrange for a group of condos in the same complex at very reasonable nightly rates.

TIMELY & TRENDY TIPS

... on Coaching Skills. Advising is another core coaching skill. Advising is also a great source of debate among coaches. Typically, advice is an educated, experienced opinion. In a coaching session, however, advice might be given in the form of a message, formula, model, information or resource. To me, some degree of advice giving is perfectly acceptable as long as I remain unattached to my client choosing to accept, reject or renegotiate the advice. Take this time to consider and discuss the following questions with your peers: How much advice should be given in a coaching relationship? Is there an advice to questioning ratio? Where does advising turn into consulting?

... on Practice Development. Most successful coaches have used a mentor coach at some point in time. In addition to training, it's important that we go through the coaching process before we actually work with clients. From a practice development standpoint, when you are being mentored, you are also receiving a good deal of advice. Here, you are the client and as mentioned above, you are at choice to accept, reject or renegotiate the advice. Keep in mind that you will want to review advice given to you by your coach, colleagues, faculty members as well as articles and books. What has worked or hasn't worked for another person, may be the very best thing for you to do... Just as we would encourage our clients, we want to act when we find congruency with our head and heart.

... on Personal Foundation. Some of you have been working on your personal foundation on an ongoing basis for quite some time. Certainly, personal foundation is a lifelong process, so good for you! If you are wondering what area to focus on next, perhaps you could ask your very close family members, friends or coaching colleagues for their suggestions.
